This little light of mine, O Happy Day, Moya Wami, Simi Lapa and even I will follow him, make up just some of the gospel classics that everyone knows and loves. Now imagine those classics performed by a hot gospel band and an all-singing, all-dancing rainbow nation gospel choir and some of gospels hottest new soloists on a spectacular set made up entirely of LED screens. Spectacular visuals, spectacular music and spectacular staging is why this show is called Gospel Spectacular its X-Factor meets Eurovision meets gospel!
Award-winning writer and director, Andrew Timm, Creative Director responsible for staging the live shows of the SA version of the international hit show, X Factor, will be responsible for mounting one of the most ambitious musical extravaganzas of the year. Choreography will be by showbiz veteran, Sandy Dyer, and the Musical Director is Dale Scheepers, former Musical Director for Showtime Australia.
The music featured will all be well-known, well-loved classics from a variety of genres: gospel pop, rock, dance, praise and worship, local is lekker and even a smattering of classical with Pie Jesu performed with multiple projections onto the performers themselves. Andrew Timm will bring this and many other visual tricks only seen on shows like X Factor and Eurovision onto the Nelson Mandela stage. It will be a feast for the eyes and the ears.
Gospel Spectacular will be a feel-good show for the whole family. It will be staged in the Nelson Mandela Theatre from Thursday 13 April to Sunday 23 April, 2017. Bookings open on Monday 21 November and are through Webtickets and Joburg Theatre.
